The Bridge Direct Working on Wave 2 Release Date

Earlier I posted a message from The Bridge Direct's Facebook page, stating a summer release for wave two of the Hobbit Figures, but there is still some uncertainty. After many people at this years New York Toy Fair heard of an October or November release for wave two, some fans took to Facebook for clarification.

The Bridge Direct posted this reply on one of the comments:

"Hey guys - we are working with our retail partners to confirm on shelf dates. We are hoping for summer availability but no later than October, about 8 weeks before DoS opens in theaters. Stay tuned for more details!"

Even if they are able to secure a summer release, it would appear to many fans that they are shooting for a one wave a movie schedule, for the time being at least. This is still completely speculation as of now however.

Figure Glance: Moria Orc

The Moria Orc became one of the most iconic figures in the Toy Biz line for The Lord of the Rings. The highly detailed armor with matching shield and sword have a perfect look for the depths of the mountain they hail from. The figure is only enhanced by it being forced into a hunched down stance, with its bent knees, to match the animal like feel the Orcs from Moria give. Along with the Moria Orc Archer, this figure was one of only two Orcs from Moria released and was a popular army builder figure.

The Moria Orc was seen as a single card figure in the fifth wave of the Two Towers Moon boxes, as well as one of the figures included in a Fellowship of the Ring multi pack with Merry and Pippin. The figure comes with a shield, sword and helmet, all of which is detailed to look like it is made of the same metal as his armor. There is a slight variant for the figure's helmet, one version does not fully enclose the face, while the other does.

In The Fellowship of the Ring film, the Moria Orc is shown during the Fellowship's battle inside The Chamber of Mazarbul next to Balin's tomb, deep in Moria. After the Fellowship defeats them and a cave troll that was brought in to help, a large group of Orcs appear from every crevice of the cave to surround Frodo and his companions. Just as another large battle seems to be in store, the Balrog makes its presence known and the Orcs disperse in a matter of seconds.

Hobbit Pictures from New York Toy Fair 2013

Figures.com has posted a nice gallery from this years Hobbit figures display from the New York Toy Fair. The Bridge Direct went out in full force to the annual toy fair and did not disappoint. Without a doubt the two highlights of the figures that are being shown are the 6 inch scale Azog and Bolg figures. Both figures towered over the previous wave figures and are full of detail. Other reveals include a seemingly US bound Yazneg figure, that is grouped with Bilbo and a box set of Thorin's company for the 3 3/4 inch line.

Check out some pictures below or head to the gallery from Figures.com.

First Look at Wave 2 of Hobbit Figures

Some pictures of prototypes from wave 2 of the Hobbit figures by The Bridge Direct have been posted online by the blog Idle Hands from the UK Toy Fair. No real surprises are shown, except maybe a 6 inch version of the Bolg figure we have seen in the smaller variety. We do, however, get some good looks at figures of Azog, Radagast and plenty of new dwarves.

Here is the link and some pictures from the blog.

NOTE: These are clearly shown as prototypes, as told by the sign next to the Azog picture, so these are not completely final. (More visible bird poop needed on Radagast's face for instance?)
